Jake Shockley met Coach Wartes in Abilene, TX in March 2026. Over dinner the two leaders discussed the possibility of this north Texas event. Shockley requested the same elements of faith and leadership be incorporated into the Sherman AIO event. The ideal partner, Shockley’s core values, align perfectly with AIO. ‘At Shockley we want to Know you, Care for you, Educate you (as risk advisers) and ultimately Serve you by protecting what you have that is worth protecting’.
“We decided to present the North Texas Air It Out Passing Camp to give back to the Texas region that has done so much our family. It’s the right thing to do; I knew it the moment I met Coach Wartes”. – Jake Shockley
About the AIO Camp: Founded in 1990 and headquartered in Abilene, TX AIO has developed some of the most talented and successful quarterbacks and receivers across our nation (High School, College & the NFL). AIO Passing Camp is a Texas legend known for consistently producing elite talent. The AIO experience is like no other! Using football as a Leadership Laboratory, AIO develops players of character, influence and faith who win on the football field and more importantly in life. There will be plenty of physical reps for each player. What separates AIO from the others are the off-the-field training sessions, testimonials and built-in character reps’ (including non-verbal body language training and a handwritten thank you note).
“On the fields of friendly strife are sown the seeds that on other days on other fields will bear the fruits of victory” – General Douglas MacArthur
Sherman High School: Our host. The Bearcats’ Director of Athletics and former Baylor Baseball Player, Alan McDougal gladly opened the doors to Sherman’s brand-new indoor football facility for this one-day only event (capped at 150 participants). We expect this event to fill quickly.
Parents: Shortly after player registration on the morning of Saturday, July 18th, we will host a 30 minute ‘Parents Only’ session in an adjacent classroom. Native Texan and US Army Colonel (ret) J. Craig Flowers will lead a discussion on parenting & leadership during these uncertain times, including a discussion on cell phones and social media. He is the co-author of “A Colonel and A Cowboy”, a #1 Best Selling Book co-authored with World Champion tie-down rodeo roper Stran Smith of Childress. TX. A former TCU baseball player, COL Flowers’ final active-duty military assignment was on the banks of the Hudson River, West Point.
Lunch (provided by Shockley Insurance): During the on-site lunch break. COL Flowers will host a class for the players on “How the Most Elite Teams in the World Behave in order to Win”.
What to Bring: Quarterbacks – bring the football you throw with (we will have some footballs on hand as well as an air pump). All: cleats (preferably ones that are broken in), flats (tennis shoes), shorts, shirt, water bottle (sunscreen in the event we venture outside) and NOTEBOOK and PEN.
You will have very little use for and even less time to use your cell phone. Be sure you have a name and FULL address of someone you want to receive your hand-written thank you note aka a historical document (including ZIP code). Note: You may choose to write more than one Thank You note (we will provide the stamp/postage and thank you cards). We will mail them. Finally, bring a gracious and positive attitude.
